Lithuania's much-contested state forest management reform is not a matter of confidence in the government and it will be carried out in one or another way, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said on Tuesday.

The ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LFGU) wants the Seimas to set up a parliamentary investigation commission to look into who, and why, stand in the way of the Environment Ministry's planned state forest management reform.
The Lithuanian government must explain the benefits of the proposed state forest management reform, which is opposed by some ruling and opposition lawmakers, President Dalia Grybauskaitė said on Thursday.
In a move that is yet to be approved by the parliament, the Lithuanian government on Tuesday decided to streamline the management of state forests by merging the country's 42 forestry enterprises into a single state enterprise named Lietuvos Valstybiniai Miškai (Lithuanian State Forests, or LVM).
