Electricity price in Lithuania down by 12%

On 29 May-4 June, compared with the previous week, wholesale electricity price in Lithuania and Latvia decreased by 12% to EUR 67.97/MWh. In Estonia, the price dropped by 19% to EUR 54.46/MWh.

According to independent electricity supplier Elektrum Lietuva, lower electricity prices in the Baltic States were affected by more electricity generated from renewable sources. Last week, windfarms and solar power plants generated by 85% and 10% more electricity respectively. Additionally, electricity prices were affected by 13% greater electricity flow from Sweden’s SE4 bidding area on the Nord Pool power exchange, despite 5% lower flow from Finland.
