Seimas approves higher excise duties on fuels

On Tuesday, the Lithuanian Parliament adopted a draft law on excise duties eliminating exemptions on energy products and gradually raising tariffs on polluting fuels.

The law passed with 69 votes in favour, 39 votes against and 20 abstentions.

The Law on Excise Duties was amended seeking to reduce or eliminate tariff exemptions and to raise tariffs on gas oils, coal, coke, lignite and peat.
