Prof Landsbergis: Finland’s NATO membership buried myth that accommodating Russia is beneficial

Finland's NATO membership marks the death of the ideology of Finlandisation, says Professor Vytautas Landsbergis, Lithuania’s first parliament speaker since the restoration of its independence.

The fact that Finland became the alliance’s 31st member also sends a message that the strategy to accommodate Russia is not the right one, he noted.
“It is a very important milestone in European history and international politics, because it has finally buried the harmful concept and ideology that Finlandisation is a good option. Finlandisation means subordination to Soviet Russia,” Landsbergis told Delfi TV broadcast Iš esmės on Tuesday evening.
