Seimas adopts legislation on stripping of citizenship

Despite the opposition’s efforts to boycott amendments to the Law on Citizenship, the Seimas passed the amended bill on Thursday. The amendments stipulate that an individual who was granted Lithuanian citizenship by way of exception would be stripped of it for posing a threat to national security.

The law was adopted with 62 votes in favour, 12 votes against and 4 abstentions.
