Border guards discover 51 illegal migrants and a Belarusian guide in a marsh in southern Lithuania

Lithuanian border guards have stopped a group of 51 illegal migrants in Varėna district on Wednesday. This is the largest group of illegal migrants in Lithuania this year. According to the State Border Guard Service (VSAT), a Belarusian citizen, a suspected guide of illegal migrants, has been detained.

The VSAT stated that border guards monitoring security cameras noticed a group of people cross from Belarus to Lithuania. Migrants laid sleeping bags on a road close to the border and walked on them across the border to conceal tracks, and then tried to cross deeper into Lithuania.
