Zuokas congratulates Benkunskas on wining Vilnius mayoral race

Vilnius mayoral candidate Artūras Zuokas has congratulated his rival Valdas Benkunskas on winning the Vilnius mayor’s seat.

The Central Electoral Commission said that Benkunskas, of the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, was leading with 51.3% of the votes counted in 138 out of 156 polling districts. Zuokas of the Freedom and Justice Party has so far garnered 47.4% of the support.
