Outgoing mayor endorses Conservative candidate in Vilnius mayoral race

Outgoing Mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius, a member of the Freedom Party who did not seek for re-election, has endorsed Conservative mayoral nominee and incumbent Deputy Mayor Valdas Benkunskas in the second round of elections in Lithuania’s capitals.

Runoff voting will be held on 19 March with Benkunskas facing former mayor of Vilnius city Artūras Zuokas, who is running for the position once again, this time as the nominee of the party Freedom and Justice.
