PM: non-taxable income, minimum wage to depend on economic growth and other priorities

The alignment of the non-taxable income rate (NPD) with minimum monthly wage (MMA) is only possible by reducing the MMA down to the NPD, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė says in her response to a presidential adviser’s recent comment. The MMA and NPD would only be raised to the extent depending on the economic growth, Šimonytė noted.

“I will sound ironic here: it could be the case if we reduced the MMA to the size of the NPD. But we do not intend to do that. The MMA and NPD will increase to the extent that economic growth allows and the need to reconcile this undoubtedly important priority with other priorities, such as salaries of teachers, national defence funding, R&D, pensions, reform of the civil service, and whatnot,” Šimonytė wrote on her social media Tuesday.
