Retail trade up by 2.1% in January

In January 2023, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade increased by 0.3% in both the euro area and the EU, compared with December 2022, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, reports.

In December 2022, the retail trade volume decreased by 1.7% in the euro area and by 1.6% in the EU.
In January 2023 compared with January 2022, the calendar adjusted retail sales index decreased by 2.3% in the euro area and by 2.2% in the EU.
