Government chancellor met with Meta representatives

Chancellor of the Government Giedrė Balčytytė on Monday met with representatives of the technology company Meta and discussed issues with content moderation on the social network Facebook, where pro-Ukraine accounts are being blocked.

The chancellor told reporters after the meeting that Meta agreed with some of Lithuania’s requests, for instance, that keywords would be harmonised with the Institute of the Lithuanian Language before being blacklisted. The Institute would clarify whether certain terms are derogatory or are used as swear words in the Lithuanian language.
