Government to consider denouncing border cooperation agreement with Belarus

On Wednesday, the Government will consider a proposal put forward by the Interior Ministry to denounce a bilateral agreement between Lithuania and Belarus on cooperation among border municipalities of the two countries.

“It is a cross-border cooperation agreement. It is fairly standard, but we do not see any possibility of continuing it now. It is partly linked to the European Union’s so-called border cooperation programmes, which are now suspended with Belarus,” Deputy Interior Minister Arnoldas Abramavičius told ELTA.
