Some 12.5 percent of respondents said in the latest poll that they would vote for the Democratic Union "For Lithuania", led by former prime minister Saulius Skvernelis, if general elections were held next Sunday, up from 11.6 percent who said so in October.

The LSDP came in second with 10.7 percent, down by 2 percentage points from 12.7 percent in October.

The ruling Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats, led by Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, continued to rank third with 8.1 percent support, down from 11.3 percent.

Further down the list is the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union with 7.5 percent (8.9 percent in October), the Liberal Movement, part of the ruling coalition, with 6.3 percent (5.4 percent in October), the opposition Freedom and Justice party with 5.7 percent (5.8 percent), and the Freedom Party, which is also part of the ruling coalition, with 2.5 percent (2.7 percent).

Some 33.8 percent of respondents said they were undecided or would not go to the polls.

According to the poll, Valdas Adamkus continues to be favored the most by adult Lithuanian population, with 80 percent of the people surveyed having a favorable opinion about the former president, and with 11 percent having a negative opinion.

President Gitanas Nauseda ranked second with 69 percent of respondents having a favorable opinion about the incumbent state leader, and 25 percent having a negative opinion.

Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas found himself in the third place, favored by 56 percent of the polled and disfavored by 28 percent. Former president Dalia Grybauskaite enjoyed the same level of support, of 56 percent, but was disfavored by 35 percent of respondents.

The most unpopular politicians in the country included Lithuania's first post-independence leader prof. Vytautas Landsbergis, Economy and Innovation Minister Ausrine Armonaite, leader of the Freedom Party, and Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, who were favored by 15-17 percent of the polled but disfavored by 75 percent, 78 percent, and 80 percent, respectively.

Baltijos Tyrimai conducted the survey, commissioned by LRT, between November 17 and December 2, with 1,015 people polled through in-person interviews. The results of the poll have an error margin of up to 3.1 percent.
