Presidential adviser: Government could act more to curb food prices

The chief presidential adviser on economic and social policy, Irena Segalovičienė, says that the Government could be more active in taking up measures to fight food-price inflation in Lithuania.

“There is room for the Government to really work more deeply and more comprehensively with the food sector. Yes, there is a strategy to increase the income of the most vulnerable. Efforts have been made here, all right. But on the other hand, nothing prevents us from considering and applying measures that would bring more competition, more opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses operating specifically in the food sector,” the chief adviser to the president told Žinių radijas on Tuesday.
