The artwork reminding the Lukashenko regime about the resistance of the Belarusian democracy and human rights activists has been created by monumental artist Lina Slipaviciute-Cerniauskiene, head of the Kiaurai Sienas art laboratory, and implemented by a group of street artists from Live Graphics, Lithuania's Foreign Ministry said.

The location chosen for the artwork is next to the Belarusian Embassy that has become a symbol of repressions of the Lukashenko regime. Bialiatski's portrait will look at the embassy from the facade of the Simonas Daukantas Progymnasium across the street.

The project was initiated by the Foreign Ministry and the idea was backed by Viasna, the Belarusian organization founded by Bialatski. Permissions for the creation of this work were granted by the Vilnius City Municipality and the Department of Cultural Heritage.

Bialiatski, as well as the Russian human rights organization Memorial and the Ukrainian human rights organization Center for Civil Liberties, were awarded this year's Nobel Peace Prize.
