These are combat drones with a combat range of 40 km, and we will be the first country in the world (apart from the US - BNS) to acquire them next year," he said in an interview with Lithuania's public broadcaster LRT.

Last week, Lithuania signed a 495 million US dollar contract with the United States on the acquisition of HIMARS systems. The contract will be implemented by US company Lockheed Martin. Commenting on the Russian president's visit to Belarus, started on Monday, Anusauskas said that although the security situation in the region has not changed, the threats have not disappeared.

"At the moment, the security situation in Lithuania and in the whole of our region has not changed. It remains the same as it was at the beginning of the war (...). There's currently no threat of a conventional attack against NATO countries," the minister said.

"Despite its losses, Russia has rebuilt part of its capacity, including in the Kaliningrad area. Yes, the forces in Belarus are smaller than they were at the beginning of the war, but … they have now re-emerged in Belarus," he added.
