MEPs among initiators of resolution to recognise Holodomor as genocide

On December 15, the European Parliament is debating and voting on a motion for a resolution to recognise the Holodomor, the mass killing by the Soviet regime through starvation in Ukraine in 1932-1933, as genocide, a press release by the Lithuanian MEPs reads.

The resolution, initiated by the European People’s Party group in the European Parliament, proposes a strong condemnation of these genocidal acts of the totalitarian Soviet regime, which led to the deaths of millions of Ukrainians and severely undermined the foundations of Ukrainian society.
