PM opposes proposals that would ease sanctions on Russia

As talks continue on the EU’s ninth package of sanctions against the Kremlin, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė criticises ideas that would ease sanctions on Russian fertiliser and food export as this would allow Russian oligarchs to use their previously frozen personal assets.

She notes that agricultural produce is not sanctioned, therefore, food safety cannot be a pretence to weaken sanctions on the Kremlin.
