Firefighters went 108 times to remove fallen trees

Lithuanian firefighters have gone 108 times to remove fallen trees due to heavy snowfall over the past 24 hours.

There have been three cases when fallen trees damaged cars, including two in Neringa and one in Klaipeda District.

Firefighters have also helped pull out ambulances stuck in snow in Alytus, Siauliai and Kaunas, the Fire and Rescue Department said.

The country's Hydrometeorological Service says it will continue to snow periodically on Tuesday, and a brief snowstorm is also expected. Freezing rain, black ice and strong westerly winds are also forecast in some places.

A bit less snow is expected on Wednesday. Some areas might experience snow drifting and windy conditions.
