Nausėda calls for coordinated action to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank

President Gitanas Nausėda on Friday hosted a meeting with presidents of Latvia, Poland and Romania. The heads of state discussed security and defence, reinforcement of NATO’s eastern flank, historical memory and fighting against disinformation, support for Ukraine and sanctions on Russia, the Office of the President announced.

At the meeting, the Lithuanian president highlighted that it is vital for the countries on NATO’s eastern flank to seek the fulfillment of commitment reached in the Madrid summit and even more ambitious regional defence plans in the coming NATO summit to be held in Vilnius next July. The meeting in Vilnius will give a perfect opportunity to discuss Ukraine’s aspirations for Euro-Atlantic integration and agree on clear-defined prospects, the president said.
