Skuodis calls eastern gauge tracks in Lithuania and European gauge in China a paradox

Transport Minister Marius Skuodis says that the situation where China has European gauge tracks and Lithuania still has eastern gauge tracks is a paradoxical one.

“I have been once on the border between Kazakhstan and China, where the traffic to Europe by rail is busiest. The paradox is that the Chinese have European-standard rails, while Lithuania still has eastern-standard rails with one very significant exception, the European rails to the Kaunas intermodal terminal, which is really the direction we are now working in, and which we need to continue and expand,” Skuodis said at the GreenTech Vilnius Forum on Thursday.
