Seimas Speaker: developing ties with Taiwan is politically beneficial for Lithuania

Speaker of the Seimas Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen says it is hard to estimate the actual economic benefit Lithuania’s policy towards Taiwan has created, but it is significant politically and diplomatically.

“It has not brought very concrete tangible benefit until now, but it does not mean that it did not have political, diplomatic or other benefits, which perhaps is difficult to estimate in dollars and euros at this stage, but which has a major influence on regional security, on the future of our country,” the parliament speaker on Thursday said in an interview to the radio station Žinių radijas about relationships developed between Lithuania and Taiwan.
