Former chair of Council of Lithuanian Bar considers political career

The latest poll indicates that Ignas Vėgėlė, former chairman of the Council of the Lithuanian Bar, would be the runner-up in the presidential election if it were to take place in the nearest future. The lawyer confirms that he is considering starting a political career but has not made up his mind yet. Opposition representatives meanwhile argue that there are clear signs that Vėgėlė will enter politics and run for president in 2024.

The poll commissioned by the news website Delfi was conducted by the pollster Spinter Tyrimai in September and revealed that Vėgėlė would finish second in the presidential election, behind incumbent President Gitanas Nausėda. 8.9% of the respondents indicated they would vote for Vėgėlė, while 16.8% would vote for Nausėda.
