Electricity price down by 25% in September

In September, compared with August, the wholesale electricity price in Lithuania decreased by 25%. This was influenced by the lowest in four years electricity consumption in September, greater electricity generation from renewable energy resources, cheaper natural gas and an increase in electricity import from the Nordic countries.

According to Litgrid, Lithuania’s electricity transmission system operator, the average wholesale electricity price in Lithuania stood at EUR 360 per MWh in September, compared with EUR 480 per MWh in August.
