Politicians oppose accepting Russians fleeing from mobilisation

Chairman of the party Democrats For Lithuania Saulius Skvernelis and Conservative MP Laurynas Kasčiūnas do not think that Lithuania should accept Russian citizens who started fleeing their country after President Vladimir Putin declared partial mobilisation to send more soldiers to fight in Ukraine. The lawmakers argue this would create multiple national security threats.

“Lithuania really should not admit these people because large groups of trained individuals with military experience might be deliberately sent so we would let in the fifth column, which would point weapons at our backs when day X comes,” Skvernelis told reporters on Monday.
