Data published by Statistics Lithuania indicates that 1,709 people contracted the virus for the first time, 454 for the second time and 16 for the third time.

The total number of confirmed cases in the country has increased to 1,211,077 since the outbreak of the pandemic. Currently, 23,676 people are ill.

The death toll due to COVID-19 in Lithuania stands at 9,266. Three individuals died on Monday. One was from the age group of 70-79 years and was fully vaccinated, while two others were from the age group of 80-89 years, one of whom was not vaccinated while the other was fully vaccinated.

The average number of new daily cases in the last 7 days is 1,440. The incidence rate per 100,000 residents in the last 14 days is 594.3. The positive test rate in the last 7 days stands at 53.2%.

On Monday, 119 residents were vaccinated against COVID-19.

On 22 August, 28 people were hospitalised due to COVID-19 and now 160 hospital beds allocated for coronavirus patients are occupied. Eight patients are being treated in intensive care units.

On Monday, 345 molecular PCR tests, 2,406 antigen tests and 145 antibody tests were performed.
