64 illegal migrants were denied access to Lithuania

On Monday, 22 August, Lithuanian border guards prevented 64 migrants from entering the country illegally from Belarus.

Latvian border guards turned around 29 illegal migrants who were trying to cross from Belarus to Latvia on Monday, whereas Polish border guards stopped 29 illegal migrants at the border with Belarus.

According to the State Border Guard Service (VSAT), so far this year Lithuania has thwarted 4,616 illegal border crossing attempts from Belarus, compared with 8,106 in 2021.
