“My main motivation is to help build an efficient innovation ecosystem in Lithuania, where Innovation Agency Lithuania becomes a real business partner and a key change agent in leading the economy towards high added value. This requires an ambitious and focused strategy for the agency, as well as an efficient, user-friendly and synergistic – holistic – package of services and measures,” says Dr Paliokaitė.

The chair of the Board of Innovation Agency Lithuania identified the smooth management of changes in the organisation as the short-term objective aimed at aligning processes and building a common organizational culture.

“It is important that Innovation Agency Lithuania itself acts innovatively and becomes a progressive employer that the team can be proud of. I believe that together – with a new manager, a strong Board, political will and all the agency’s employees – we will succeed,” says Dr Paliokaitė.

Dr Paliokaitė has more than 20 years of experience in policy-making and impact assessment, feasibility studies and applied social sciences. She has contributed to the development of the first innovation projects in Lithuania, including the Sunrise Valley, and is currently a member of the Working Group on Coordination of the State Progress Strategy Lithuania 2050.

Besides Dr Paliokaitė, the Board of the Innovation Agency also includes Žilvinas Pakeltis, an experienced international development manager with over 20 years of experience in multinational and domestic companies, Justina Klyvienė, founder and Managing Partner of the innovation laboratory Future Leadership, Paulius Vertelka, Head of Google Public Policy for the Baltics, Eglė Markevičiūtė, Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation, Egidijus Meilūnas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Gintautas Jakštas, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sport.

“The innovation reform does not end with the merger of three organisations into one agency – it is just the beginning of the transformation. The aim of this organisation is to focus more on breakthrough industries, international development, economic transformation, digitalisation and building economic resilience. I hope that the long-standing experience of the Board members will contribute to the creation of an innovation ecosystem in Lithuania and of a dynamic, positive and innovative Innovation Agency,” says Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of Economy and Innovation.

Innovation Agency Lithuania, which started activities in early April, is responsible for Lithuania’s innovation ecosystem and for promoting innovation at all stages of business development. The agency is responsible for providing entrepreneurship, export and innovation promotion services to business and will administer a range of business support measures with a total value exceeding EUR 500 million over the next few years.

The Innovation Agency was established on the basis of Enterprise Lithuania and the Lithuanian Business Support Agency (LVPA), consolidating the functions of innovation activities previously carried out by the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA).
