Data published by Statistics Lithuania shows that 1,151 people contracted the virus for the first time, 389 for the second time and 20 for the third time.

The total number of confirmed cases in Lithuania has reached 1,195,813 since the outbreak of the pandemic. There are now 22,381 active cases.

The death toll due to COVID-19 in the country stands at 9,227. One patient from the age group of 90-99 years died on Tuesday. The individual was not vaccinated.

The average number of new daily cases in the last 7 days is 1,218. The incidence rate per 100,000 residents in the last 14 days is 585.2. The positive test rate in the last 7 days stands at 53.1%.

On 9 August, 251 residents were vaccinated against coronavirus: 78 with the first vaccine dose, 51 with the second dose and 51 with the third dose.

Fourteen people were hospitalised due to COVID-19 on Tuesday and now 126 hospital beds allocated for coronavirus patients are occupied. Nine patients are being treated in intensive care units.

On Tuesday, 249 molecular PCR tests, 2,419 antigen tests and 151 antibody tests were carried out.
