Prosecutors from the Organised Crime and Corruption Investigation Department analysed the available information and opened an investigation against the Forum and individuals linked to it over violations of Article 118 of the Criminal Code concerning assistance to another state in carrying out activities hostile to Lithuania.

The investigation is carried out by the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau, it is organised and controlled by the Organised Crime and Corruption Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

As reported, members of the Forum recently visited Moscow, met with members of the State Duma and held a press conference, which was attended by Erika Švenčionienė, former director of Vilniaus vandenys Darius Norkus, former leader of the Socialist People’s Front (SLF) Edikas Jagelavičius and Mindaugas Ramoška. They also took part in a Russian propaganda campaign against Lithuania.

Earlier this week, the State Security Department (VSD) stated that the activities of the International Good Neighbourhood Forum (TGKF) founded by Paleckis, who has been convicted and imprisoned for 6 years for spying for Russia, poses a threat to Lithuania’s national security.
