“Information has been received from the State Security Department. Footage that was published in the public sphere is being examining. We cannot comment in more detail at the time. The information is being analysed, assessed and has attracted officers’ attention,” Rita Stundienė, spokeswoman of the Prosecutor General’s Office, told the news agency ELTA, adding that interagency cooperation is always ongoing.

The VSD confirmed that it has collected information about the activities of members of the Forum and transferred it to bodies that carry out pre-trial investigations. The State Security Department believes that these activities pose a threat to Lithuania’s national security.

As reported, MP Matas Maldeikis has also appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office over a recent visit by members of the Forum to the Russian Federation. The MP says they slandered and acted against Lithuania, and this should bring criminal charges.

The International Good Neighbourhood Forum (TGKF) was ostensibly founded by Paleckis using an electronic signature when he was already imprisoned for spying for Russia.

The Ministry of Justice tasked the Prison Department to probe the situation and the latter determined that electronic devices were not smuggled to Paleckis. It concluded that another person likely used Paleckis’ electronic signature to establish the organisation.
