“Minister Oleksii Reznikov and I have discussed military assistance and training for the Ukrainian military and everything else that improves Ukraine’s ability to stand up against the Russian aggression,” Minister Anušauskas said.

According to Anušauskas, Lithuania will add 10 more M113 armoured personnel carriers to the already delivered 20, as well as blank ammunition and explosives, and smoke grenades. Ministers also discussed the options for training Ukrainian troops in Lithuania.

“Additional military assistance will arrive in Ukraine soon. The country is getting plenty of M113 APCs, therefore we could train the corresponding Ukrainian maintenance personnel or instructors. We also propose to arrange training for demining personnel. We are flexible and determined to help in every way we can, of course, to respond to the needs voiced by Ukraine,” says Anušauskas.

Both ministers also attended the meeting of Presidents of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on further directions of cooperation.

The military assistance Lithuania has given to date includes the Stinger air defence systems, anti-armour weapons, tactical vests and helmets, 120 mm mortars, small arms, ammunition, thermovisors, drones, anti-drones and surveillance radars, M113 APCs, trucks, all-terrain vehicles and the Bayraktar TB2 UAV with ammunition crowdfunded for by the Lithuanian people.

In total, the assistance Lithuania has provided to Ukraine to date values approx. EUR 123 million.
