"Weapons are needed. As [Ukrainian] President [Volodymyr Zelensky] has said, they run out of weapons very quickly," she told the Ziniu Radijas radio station. "Weapons are needed on a continuous basis. Unfortunately, the war is still on."

According to the advisor, Ukraine needs heavy weapons, anti-tank, anti-missile and anti-ship weapons.

"All possible means are needed to counter the Russian offensive," she said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday evening that Russia had launched a large-scale offensive in the eastern Donbas region, a move anticipated for weeks after Moscow withdrew troops from the region around Kyiv.

Nauseda spoke with Zelensky by phone earlier on Monday.

Another consignment of Lithuanian military aid was handed over to Ukraine during Nauseda's visit to the country last week, according to the advisor.

"Lithuania transferred to Ukraine, let's put it this way, a brigade-size unit of arms and ammunition [...] to reinforce it in its war with Russia," she told the radio station.

Lithuania has sent a number of arms shipments to Ukraine since the start of Russia's invasion in late February, but no details about the military aid have been given.
