Corruption-type charges have been filed against 17 natural and legal persons, according to the statement. They include Romualdas Kizlaitis, the ex-director of the hospital's Informatics and Development Center, as well as another female staff member.
The Special Investigation Service has collected evidence suggesting that Kizlaitis demanded illegal financial remuneration, disguised as financial support, from businesses winning public procurement contracts in 2017-2018.
Under Lithuania's Criminal Code, people charges with corruption face prison sentences ranging from 2 to 8 eights, and those charged with bribery face a fine or up to seven years in prison.
