16 offenders brought back to Lithuania from UK

16 Lithuanian offenders have been flown to Lithuania from the UK this week, Lithuania's State Border Guard Service says.

The Lithuanians were brought in on a special flight and were accompanied by around 50 British officers.

Three of the 16 people were handed over to police officers, and the remaining 13 were released after checks and questioning.

Before the flight, the Lithuanians underwent COVID-19 testing and their results are negative.

It was already a fifth such flight this year, the SBGS noted. A total of 96 Lithuanian citizens have been returned to Lithuania from the UK so far this year.
