"I sent it yesterday but it will probably be registered under today's date," the minister told BNS on Monday morning.

Skuodis said last Thursday he was ready to step down and accept responsibility for the continuous transit of Belaruskali fertilizers via Lithuania. He also expressed his regret over the existing situation and said Lithuania had no experience in implementing sanctions of such a scale.

Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis also handed in his resignation letter last Friday.

President Gitanas Nauseda is meeting with Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte on Monday to discuss the foreign and transport ministers' resignation letters.
