The meeting will focus on the region's security as Russia is massing its forces near Ukraine's borders and in its occupied territories, Nauseda said.

"We plan to meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in Ukraine. Well, and, of course, I also hope the European Council will also give due attention to this issue since the situation is causing concern," the Lithuanian president told a press conference on Friday.

Kristina Belikova from the presidential communication group told BNS the trilateral meeting would take place in Ukraine.

"It's a solidarity and support visit," she told BNS.

The West and Kyiv have raised concern that Russia, which annexed Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula in 2014 and fueled a separatist movement in its eastern regions, is planning a large-scale invasion into Ukraine.

Moscow says the deployment of additional forces was aimed at preventing Ukraine's inclusion into the US-led NATO military alliance.
