Their relocation was organized by the Lithuanian Embassy in Spain, the Foreign Ministry said.

Up until now, 57 people have been relocated to Lithuania from Venezuela.

The incoming people were on Thursday met in Vilnius by representatives of the Refugees Center who will take care of their accommodation and quarantine.

Later on, the persons will receive payouts to settle in and buy basic items. The children will be provided education assistance and helped to learn the Lithuanian language, and the adults will be assisted in finding employment etc.

The ongoing political and economic crisis in Venezuela is forcing people to leave the country, Lithuania's Foreign Ministry said. Lithuania's Embassy in Madrid is now in contact with around 100 people seeking relocation to Lithuania.

Around 1,000 Lithuanians are believed to be living in Venezuela.
