Eight out of 21 illegal migrants who fled camp found

Eight out of the 21 illegal migrants who went missing from a camp in Rukla in Lithuania's central Jonava District have been found and a search for the remaining ones continues, the Interior Ministry told BNS on Monday.

21 migrants went missing on Saturday night during a protest at the camp. It remains to be determined when exactly they fled.

Ricardas Pocius, commander of the Public Security Services, which guards that camp, said over the weekend the protest might have been held to distract officers.

Socially vulnerable migrants and their families live in Rukla.

Almost 4,200 irregular migrants have crossed into Lithuania from Belarus so far this year.
