Last week, the country ranked 21st and 14th, respectively.

Lithuania's 14-day case notification rate rose to just over 312 cases per 100,000 people, 65 cases more than a week ago.

Estonia comes first in the EU with a 14-day case notification rate of 1,364, followed by Hungary with almost 1,197 and the Czech Republic with around 1,069 cases.

In terms of the 14-day death notification rate, Lithuania ranks 16th with around 54 COVID-19 deaths per million inhabitants, unchanged from the previous week.

Hungary tops the list with around 315 deaths, followed by the Check Republic with 258 and Bulgaria with almost 205 deaths.

Non-EU Iceland continued to fare best among the EU/EEA countries monitored by the ECDC with around 27 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and no coronavirus-related deaths in the past 14 days.

Liechtenstein was the other country to report no deaths.

In the EU, Portugal had the lowest 14-day COVID-19 case notification rate, at around 60 per 100,000 people, and Finland had the lowest death rate, at just over 14 per million inhabitants.
