People providing services to education establishments have been put on the priority list. The group includes those working for or providing services to education establishments, including people travelling abroad to provide Lithuanian-language education, as well as freelance teachers and other persons providing education services.

"The proposal is to include them for all people working for education establishments and other education providers or those providing service to be vaccinated, and this way preparations would be made to resume all in-class learning soon," the ministry said.

The priority groups now also include school-leavers who are receiving in-person consultations, as well as coaches who are allowed to hold in-person classes with children, health sciences students, as well as those working at pharmacies and medical establishments.

Under the priority procedure, workers of diplomatic representations who plan to travel abroad and their family members will be vaccinated, as well as top-level athletes going to sports events, members of the Eurovision and the Biennale Architettura 2021 delegations.

Health Minister Arunas Dulkys says there are plans to suggest that municipal mayors and heads of administrations should also get vaccinated and this way "show an example".

The under-65 priority group has also been updated and it now includes people waiting for organ transplantation, people who have had cancer over the past five years, those with certain imunodeficiencies, as well as people who need constant care.

Shop workers having contact with clients have also been included into the category of key workers.

In all priority groups, vaccinations will start from the eldest people.

Priority groups in Lithuania are approved by the health minister.
