Lithuania ranks 19th in Europe by COVID-19 case

Lithuania comes in 159th in terms of the 14-day COVID-19 case notification rate among the European countries monitored by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and was in the 15th place in terms of 14-day death notification rate.

Last week, the country ranked 15th and 9th last week.

Lithuania’s 14-day case notification rate now stands at almost 229 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, down by 32 cases from last week, according to the center’s data update published on Thursday.

The first among 30 countries is the Czech Republic with the 14-day case notification rate of 1,395 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Estonia (around 1,038) and Slovakia (562),

As regards the 14-day death notification rate, Lithuania comes in 15th with around 59 deaths per 1,000,000 inhabitants, down by 21 deaths over a week.

Slovakia comes first with around 242 deaths per million population, followed by the Czech Republic with almost 208 deaths and Hungary with 1534 deaths.

Meanwhile, the best rates among the countries monitored by the ECDC continue to be found in Iceland (almost 6 new infections and no deaths), Norway (84 cases and six deaths) and Denmark (118 infections and 11 deaths).
