"We have been given a clear assurance that EU countries, including Lithuania, will receive about 100 million vaccines on a pro rata basis in the first quarter, meaning that a total of about 600,000 vaccines will have been delivered to Lithuania (...) by late March," Simonas Krepsta told the Ziniu Radijas radio station.

"Another 3 million vaccines should be delivered to Lithuania in the second quarter," he added.

According to Statistics Lithuania, the country has to date received 279,900 vaccine doses.

Krepsta said vaccine supply plans for the next month are quite reliable, but long-term schedules may still be adjusted.

However, he expects that possible fluctuations in the supply of already-approved vaccines will be offset by new products that are yet to be authorized for use in the EU.

Johnson & Johnson's vaccine is expected to be approved within a few weeks.

Lithuania is now using the EMA-approved vaccines developed by BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca.
