"Based on the information we have, the first Moderna vaccine batches should reach all EU member states next week and they will be distributed under the pro rata principle (based on the number of residents)," the Representation of the European Commission in Lithuania told BNS.
Shipments are delivered based on specific agreements between member states and the producers, and the EC is not involved in these agreements, therefore, Lithuanian institutions should provide specific figures, the EC representation said.
Meanwhile, Lithuania's Ministry of Health says the vaccine's delivery is now being arranged, adding that more detailed information will be published upon receipt of final confirmation.
The EC approved the use of the Moderna vaccine in the EU on Wednesday. It’s the second coronavirus vaccine approved in the EU after the use of the Pfizer/BioNTech jab was approved in late December.
