It says the result was received after the NPHC and the Center of Registers' statistics for October-December were compared.

"It was established that 324 deaths from the coronavirus and 480 deaths of coronavirus-infected persons from other causes were not accounted," the ministry said in a statement.

The issue of these additional unaccounted deaths was on Tuesday discussed by Health Minister Arunas Dulkys and Robertas Petraitis, head of the NPHC during their remote meting. The minister told the NPHC director to provide the situation's comprehensive assessments in writing.

The difference between the number of deaths reported by the NPHC and the data in the e.sveikata (e-health) system was reported by BNS in the middle of December.
