The new app will use Bluetooth to record closeness to other devices.
"It warns users that over the past 14 days they have been in very close contact with another app user for more than 15 minutes and that that person has voluntarily reported their infection with the coronavirus causing the COVID-19 disease. Alongside the notification, the app also provides recommendations on what action could help stop further spread of the virus," the app description reads.
It also stressed that the app does not use any data to identify the geographical location or movement, and users' identities, the location and time are not disclosed in any cases.
BNS asked the National Public Health Center for comment but it said the new app would be presented during a press conference on Friday.
