"Two hundred employees are being tested. We don't have (the results) yet, but we do hope to have them today," Rolanda Lingiene told LRT Radio, adding that the risk that they had contracted the virus was low.

The Health Ministry said on Tuesday that 18 people from Hegelmann Transporte had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Based on preliminary information, all of them came to Kaunas from Uzbekistan in late July to work for the firm as long-haul drivers.

All of the infected persons are now in isolation and public health specialists are currently working to trace their contracts, according to the ministry.

Lingiene said that the infected persons had had no close contact with other employees of the transport company.

The NPHC reported the first coronavirus case in Hegelmann Transporte last Thursday and a second one on Monday.

Based on the latest statistics released on Tuesday, Lithuania has so far registered a total of 1,875 COVID-19 cases and 79 deaths.
