- Why did you come to Vilnius?
- I am a Bachelor‘s Degree student at Kenya‘s Kenyatta University. I wanted to study abroad. I found out online about Mykolas Romeris University. Now I am spending a semester and immersing myself in Psychology studies.
- What did you know about Vilnius before coming to study here?
- That it was a country in Europe. Other than that, nothing.
- You told your parents you were going to Lithuania for studies. What did they say?
- At first, they hesitated. I had never been to Europe and they knew this would be the first time that I would be in Europe by myself.
- You are in Lithuania during the quarantine period, which began in March. How are you faring?
- Yes, the quarantine is continuing. So far, it is going ok. We, students, were all asked to stay inside and attend lectures remotely online. We are studying online. That is good. I am not afraid of the virus. I believe I am an optimist. We students will manage to get through this period.
- You are from Nairobi. How different is living in Nairobi from living in Vilnius?
- The weather is quite cold in Vilnius, although I understand that it was a very mild winter. It‘s also quiet in Vilnius. It‘s not congested like in Nairobi. There are too many people and too many cars in Nairobi. I like living here in Vilnius because it‘s not congested.
- What do you think of Vilnius?
- Well, I like the city. I enjoy the fact that public transportation is cheaper here than in Nairobi. It‘s not that expensive to take the bus here in Vilnius.
- You already had a unique experience in Vilnius that you will probably never forget. What was that?
- I saw snow for the first time in Vilnius. It hasn‘t been snowing much in Vilnius this year I‘m told, but there was one moment when it started to snow last month. I went outside. It was a very interesting experience for me. In Kenya, we don‘t have snow, so it was an unforgettable experience.
- How many languages do you speak?
- My first language is English, but I also speak Swahili.
- What do you plan to do after you graduate and complete Bachelor‘s Degree studies in Kenya?
- I want to continue my studies in a Master‘s Degree programme. Perhaps, I will study in Europe. I don‘t know yet. After that, I will look for a job in Nairobi. I want to be a teacher in a high school in Nairobi.
