The factory in the village of Tirkiliskiai is planned to start operating in early 2021, the company said in a press release.

According to Ieva Salmela, Hesburger's international development director, all of the chain's sauces are currently made in Finland,

The new 5,600-square-meter facility will initially have a capacity to produce around 1,000 tons of mayonnaise and other sauces annually.

The project will initially create 20 new jobs and that number is expected to double within five years.

This year, Hesburger is investing 5 million euros in expansion in Lithuania, with plans to open seven new outlets in the country.

The company's sales in Lithuania rose by 24 percent last year compared with 2017 to 29 million euros.
